Height of Foolishness

Mr. Pappu Prasad has just arrived at the Railway platform.  With spectacles hang upon on nose, eyeglass chain at the end of the chords circling around the ears, his lean body, neatly tucked white shirt inside the brown trousers, long hands, a good height, his appearance amused the viewer’s making impression of an innocent chap. He was half an hour earlier to the train going to board at the station.
Related imageBrilliant and smart as he consider himself, he is always proud of progress in his way of living. Bachelor in his 30s, he feels that he has knack of dealing with people. He has regular habit of looking at wrist watch and stretching the pony tie around his neck.
All of a sudden, his eyes locked on Book Store near by him. Book Seller was busy in dealing with visitors, Mr. Pappu’s eyes scrolling on Magazines and Business books like “How to win friends and influential people”, “Think and Grow Rich”, “Getting Things Done”, etc.. He was flipping pages one book after another, completely occupied for 17 minutes. He unnoticed the cast of Booksellers glare upon him in stealing moments.


Saab, “this is not library, please not to waste my time, you are blocking the view of my little stall from the public” yelped Bookseller. Mr. Pappu got furious – “what do you think you moron? Am I here for time-pass? My train will arrive in 10 minutes. I am just checking whether you have valuable books.
“Sir, here books are for sale, not for view. I see you don’t have courage to buy, not come with enough money in your pocket” teased Bookseller.
“How dare to talk to me in this way? Don’t have manners! You are speaking to software professional. Tell me how much these bloody books costs.” Screamed Mr. Prasad.
“Sir, Sorry for the behavior. Calculated discount amounts to Rs.2235/- “politely responded Bookseller.
“Do you think am beggar? I don’t need your bloody discount.” Shouted Mr. Pappu.
“Sir, I underestimated you.” Bookseller made a bill of Rs.2950/-.
Mr. Pappu immediately taken a notes of 2000 and 1000 from his purse handed over to Bookseller saying – keep the change you filth.
He squared himself with his purchases and stepped toward the compartment of train which arrived just in time. He smiled thinking how cleverly he tackle with bookseller.
Bookseller too smiled at his fortune for just selling books worth Rs.1300/-
